The World’s most Dangerous birds with beautiful Appearances

No doubt birds are cute and lovely creatures but there are few species of wild dangerous birds that are pretty aggressive when it comes to defense.

Lovely Dangerous Birds

There are a few birds that look pretty awesome they could be more aggressive and dangerous for others.

Yellow-billed oxpecker

Yellow-billed oxpecker

Oxpecker is it’s pretty much what you’d get if Dracula decided he wanted to eat some bird but there’s a twist. This bird doesn’t want any old blood it only wants the blood of big mammals I guess even vampires are picky eaters. Oxpeckers have long been photographed and videoed hanging out on the backs of large undulated hooved animals like rhinos, giraffes, or water buffalo.

But it turns out that this wasn’t actually the peaceful friendship we’d assumed actually it was something much more insidious. The yellow-billed oxpecker is actually something of a parasite which happily feeds on the pests that reside on these animals’ backs. However, they also have a habit of taking blood from the sores left behind by these animals.

Bearded vulture

Bearded vulture

The bearded vulture is a huge eagle-like vulture of the old world their wingspan alone can reach up to 10 feet wide. I don’t think you need much more explanation to know that these guys are not playing around the bearded vulture-like all vultures, likes to dine on carrion especially bones it’s been said that eighty percent of the bearded vulture diet consists of bone and bone marrow.

The bird drops the bone from a large height onto the rocks below cracking it open and allowing them to access the bone marrow inside but if you’re a human rest assured you’re probably safe maybe attacks on humans have happened but they’re exceptionally rare and while they do have a reputation of carrying away lambs and calves.

There’s currently no evidence that the bearded vulture would ever attempt to carry a child away still you should probably start running if you ever see a lamborgher headed for you generally speaking you should never get up close to a vulture. These animals are scavengers sure but they’re also pretty good at hunting and attacking while they may not be known for attacking humans that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. It just means that the person it happened to isn’t here to talk about it.

European herring gull

European herring gull

Now we’ve come to an animal well known for its constant and relentless attacks on humans. No, I’m not talking about that guy in the media we all hate I’m talking about the European herring gull. This little guy is so notorious for his attacks you’d think he was a celebrity being harassed by the paparazzi measuring up to two feet in length.

The European herring is actually one of the largest gulls in Europe but it’s not known for its size this bird is much more well known for its relentless attacks on humans as well as its food-stealing abilities. Thanks to their four to five-foot wide wingspan and long razor-sharp bells pretty much everybody who gets attacked by the European herring suffers serious injuries part of the reason for the constant attacks on humans is that.

Like all birds, they get even more aggressive during nesting season if a bird feels like it’s being provoked or threatened it will summon its adult bird friends to help defend resulting in one very injured human. The European herring gull is a notoriously difficult animal to deal with if you happen to encounter one it’s best to just turn in the other direction and head home assuming of course that the European herring gull mafia hasn’t broken your legs yet.

Cassowary birds

Cassowary most dangerous birds

Easily one of the most dangerous birds in the world. The cassowary is an animal you really don’t want to encounter in the wild even though they’re usually found in parts of Australia and New Guinea. They’ve built quite a reputation for themselves. The cassowary killer of men well maybe it doesn’t have a nickname quite as cool as that but close enough.

The Cassowary is one of few birds known to attack and kill humans thanks to one long dagger-like toe. The cassowary can take out just about any human victim with a single swipe of its foot but here’s a free warning to those of you out there prepared to run these animals can sprint as fast as 31 miles an hour. So, you know better run fast.

Thankfully cassowary attacks on humans are pretty rare still they usually happen because the cassowary tries to steal food from people and often end in a brutal tragic death for humans the Guinness world records have named. The cassowary the most dangerous bird in the world which certainly sounds like a warning. We should all take but again if you’re about to start running from the cassowary you might want to get a head start these things are fast and furious come to think of it.

Great horned owl

Great horned owl

They’re often considered to be among the wisest and gentlest animals but owls can actually be pretty dangerous especially if they think their family mates or territory is being threatened of course death by. Owl is extremely rare and most people manage to escape without injury but nobody wants to be on the receiving end of an owl attack.

Great horned owls are just one of a handful of owls that have received particular attention for their aggressive and high profile attacks on humans these owls live all over the Americas and are capable of living for up to 28 years which means a ticked off owl can hold that grudge against you for almost three decades the thing that makes these animals so dangerous.

Is their grip strength their talon’s clutching force is said to be as strong as the bite of a large guard dog making it strong enough to disfigure or potentially kill its prey and thanks to their habit of swooping without warning many humans find themselves on the receiving end of a stealth owl attack.

The great horned owls are not the gentle glasses-wearing librarian’s cartoons that have led us to believe these animals are intimidating violent and fiercely protective they command respect and if you’re not going to give it to him you better get running.

Great northern loon dangerous birds

Great northern loon cute bird

So, it turns out that when people call me a loon. They don’t mean it as an insult turns out they just think I’m a giant diving bird which is about the greatest animal-based compliment you can get next to you look like a dog. Dogs are adorable so thank you the great northern loon is a giant diving bird measuring between two and three feet long and with a wingspan of up to five feet wide that’s one a big bird.

Believe it or not, its size isn’t the most notable feature of the great northern loon actually that otter goes to its spear-like beak which is exactly what makes this bird so dangerous when attacking its chosen victims. These animals tend to focus primarily on the head or neck which can cause serious problems for the unfortunate being on the other end of the beak and again.

This is a bird you’ll have some trouble fleeing while they may be relatively big loons can reach speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. If they get a good run up good luck escaping that obviously, loons are formidable foes. If you find yourself on the other end of an encounter with one of these guys you better be praying to whatever god is listening to or just hope you have the super speed you never knew about.

Quail bird fighting birds

Quail bird

For a bird that is already so widely consumed it’s kind of crazy just how dangerous the quail can be for diners and chefs or should I say was today chefs seem to know. How to prepare quail to ensure nobody dies but back in the day an upmarket meal of quail could turn out to be your last. It may not be particularly, well known but it turns out that the toxins within the quail have the potential to harm humans.

The condition known as coternism is a rare cause of acute rhabdomyalysis which can be lethal symptoms of coturnism include extreme pain muscle tenderness nausea and vomiting but all of this is extremely rare in the modern world. Thanks to all of our advances however back in the day the predicament was so widespread that it was banned in the roman empire and was even described in the biblical book of numbers.

I guess that’s the ancient equivalent of a bad review on the internet while coternism is pretty rare today. It’s not totally out of the question some modern doctors and health experts have seen patients who have developed some form of the condition due to eating quail. Well, this proves once and for all my theory that fancy restaurants are as risky as street food trucks I’ll take my twenty dollars off the air.

Spur-winged goose birds

Spur-winged goose

Now we’ve come to a bird that like some celebrities is famous just for being toxic the Spur-winged goose is a fascinating animal and it’s also harmless while alive but like all birds. Some living things really want to eat it and that’s when they make the shocking discovery that not everything can be eaten without consequences rest in peace hungry friends.

The spur-winged goose is known as a poisonous bird. Thanks to what it eats these birds consume poisonous beetles as part of their diet and although the poison doesn’t actually affect them it does get stored which in turn makes the spur-winged goose very dangerous to anybody that tries to consume it. Generally, the burr-winged goose isn’t thought to be strong enough to kill a human.

However, it probably isn’t going to be a fun or totally harmless experience if you happen to be an animal and not a human it’s likely that you’re not going to make it out of the experience alive. Sorry about that the spur-winged goose is a perfect example of how every animal in the food chain affects the next. Thanks to those poisonous beetles. The goose is poisonous and as a result of that, the animal that eats the goose is dead well that’s the circle of life for you.

Red-tailed hawk dangerous birds

Red-tailed hawk

Really any bird of prey should be a bird that you’re running away from these animals are known for their hunting skill aggression and intensely powerful bodies. The Red-tailed hawk is no different. In fact, they’re known all over North America as one of the most brutal killers of pets you can ever have the misfortune of encountering.

The Red-tailed hawk like any bird of prey is fiercely defensive about its territory if it suspects that you’ve wandered somewhere you shouldn’t be they won’t think twice about attacking so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that these birds have attacked and killed an unthinkable amount of small pets like cats and dogs.

It’s just in their nature to swoop down and attack and when you see those powerful talons it’s easy to see why every living animal on the planet should be afraid of the red tail talk and yes I mean every living animal. The red-tailed hawk lives in a wide range of habitats from deserts to grasslands and urban areas.

They are quite literally everywhere the red tail talk is like all birds of prey a force to be reckoned with unfortunately not all living animals encounter. It has the power to counter that force spare a thought for the poor pets that have lost their lives to this guy.

Mute swan lovely birds

Mute swan lovely birds

Now we come to our old favorite enemy the Mute swan the mutes one is one of the most badly behaved birds on the planet. So, there are quite a few reasons we advise you get the heck away from this thing. If ever there was a bird that could be considered a diva you’re looking at it the mute swan is one of Europe’s largest waterfowls and a boy doesn’t know about it some humans find themselves drawn to get closer to the mute swan.

Because they’re so darn cute but they quickly figure out their mistake swans tend to be territorial especially during nesting season. In fact, most swan’s attacks on humans occurred during nesting season when the swans are working to protect their young from potential danger if they feel their family or territory is threatened the swan is known to hiss chase and strike with their strong wings and while it may sound like a pretty painless attack.

You’d be wrong the size and strength of those wings have caused a lot of injuries especially to the victim’s eyes I’m not going to sugarcoat it the mutes one is one of the most difficult and temperamental birds in the world. Even if it’s not the nesting season they’re still probably planning on attacking you better just get running.

Barred owl

Barred owl

We’ve already established that owls are not the kind of worldly birds we once thought well if you’re still in doubt about that we found another example of an aggressive bloodthirsty owl well maybe I don’t know. I’m not an owl expert I’m just a very talented voice-over artiste barred owls are actually smaller than great horned owls.

The other aggressive owl we’ve been discussing but this breed is much more famous for their seemingly random attacks on hikers that happen to pass through the area. They call home the attacks are so widespread that they’ve been reported everywhere from Texas to British Columbia and yet the owls are still not in prison for assault explain that one to me legal system.

The barred owl is the most vocal of eastern owls but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be aware of its presence before it attacks I mean if it’s going to swoop down and attack you it probably isn’t all that interested in giving you a heads up this is just another piece of the puzzle revealing, owls to be a pretty violent bunch all things considered.

Ostrich largest bird

Ostrich largest birds

The Ostrich it’s the largest living bird on earth and sure while it may not be able to fly don’t go thinking you’re safe. They’re also the fastest birds on earth and they could kill a human in seconds but we’ll come back to that the ostrich when fully grown can stand up to six feet in height and weigh up to 330 pounds. So, it’s kind of obvious why it can’t fly but despite the pounds.

The ostrich is a capable animal able to reach a top speed of 43 miles per hour so to answer your question no you couldn’t outrun an ostrich not even close but what makes the ostrich so dangerous, is the power contained within its legs while they only have two toes on each foot the talons on each measure up to four inches long and when they feel threatened a single powerful kick can kill a lion or human.

Something else entirely so i guess the lesson here stays the heck away if you accidentally provoke an ostrich. It’s pretty much over for you unless you can somehow barricade yourself inside a building but even then the ostrich will probably go kicking the door down there is really no good outcome for you in this situation haven’t you ever seen the roadrunner cartoons flightless birds are dangerous.

Hooded pitohui birds

Hooded pitohui

Unless you often find yourself exploring the forests of new guinea you probably have no idea what the Hooded pitohui is? Well, let me be the first to tell ya. It’s a surprisingly poisonous bird and the thing is you might not even know when you’ve been poisoned. The Hooded pitohui is actually the first poisonous bird to be officially documented and it’s a pretty fascinating little thing, unlike most animals.

The Hooded pitohui poison doesn’t transfer through a bite but through a scratch thanks to their sharp talons it’s incredibly easy to get an accidental scratch from one of these things the only problem is that once it happens. The scratch area will immediately start to go numb if you try and lick away the blood your mouth will also start to go numb before you know it you’ve been poisoned.

Thankfully you’ll survive the pitohui’s poison isn’t that strong well it’s not that strong if you’ve only been poisoned by one bird. If you’re unlucky enough to be attacked by a group of them you might find yourself with some major problems I guess the only solution here is to stop wandering the forests of New Guinea. I’m not sure why you were doing that anyway but it sure seems like you’re asking for trouble to me.

Emu bird

Emu dangerous birds

Like the Ostrich, we come to another flightless bird that turns out to be surprisingly deadly despite its amusing appearance. The Emu is apparently one of the most aggressive and dangerous birds in the world reports of Emu attacks are remarkably common with over a hundred reported incidents happening in 2009 alone because they can’t fly.

Emu’s developed the surprising ability to run at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour but that’s not actually what makes them dangerous while human fatalities are rare emus can take out animals with an astounding amount of power like the ostrich and naomi campbell. The emu has been blessed with impressive and very strong legs if it feels threatened or at risk. All the emu has to do is land one perfectly placed kick and its opponent is pretty much down for the count permanently.

Let’s be honest kicked by an emu is not what you want to be listed as your cause of death hell even hit by a blimp is more impressive most people are wise enough not to start a fight with large flightless birds. But just in case anybody needs a reminder do not start fights with large flightless birds. They may not be able to take flight but they sure as heck will chase you down and literally kick your butt.

Australian magpie black and white birds

Australian magpie

I’ll be honest Australia is full of so many dangerous animals that I can’t even keep track and yes even the birds are deadly. The Australian magpie is actually the second most dangerous bird in the whole country next to the southern cassowary but in terms of violent birds, it’s easily up there as one of the worst. The Australian magpie has only one goal in life to protect the nest anything that threatens that goal needs to learn the lesson in the most painful way possible.

Apparently, because the Australian magpie lives in residential areas many unsuspecting Aussies end up stumbling into their trap what may be an otherwise pleasant walk could turn into an emergency trip to the hospital with pecking wounds. According to studies 99 of attacking magpies are male and most tend to focus their attacks on pedestrians or cyclists to be even more specific the Australian magpie’s target of choice tends to be a small young person traveling alone on a bike.

If that describes what you might want to prepare some cyclists who have become so used to the presence of these violent magpies that they’ve concocted some creative solutions helmets with spikes a flagpole on the back of the bike wearing sunglasses on the back of your head. Apparently, it all works and the sunglasses on the back of the head hairs never looked so cool have you ever encountered one of these dangerous birds.
